IAM Local 1484 Auto Technicians On Unfair Labor Practices

About 35 San Diego-location automobile professionals from IAM Community 1484 (District 190) are on an unfair labor tactics strike at Mercedes Benz of San Diego. An unfair labor follow (ULP) strike takes place when staff strike over an employer’s unfair labor follow. The ULP strike commenced on June 16.

“Our users are on the picket line to stand up for fairness in the workplace,” said IAM Local 1484 President Rudy Morales. “They are building a big sacrifice to be certain every single member gets taken care of with regard and dignity. Our members’ stand is noble mainly because this combat is not only for by themselves but for vehicle professionals during Southern California.”

IAM Regional 1484 users became the initial union at a Mercedes Benz dealership in Southern California when they voted to join the IAM in 2010. The customers fought tricky but did not get their to start with deal until 2016. 

Members at Area 1484 have seasoned and reported unilateral changes in doing the job disorders, immediate dealing, unlawful interrogations, and illegal terminations. 

Mercedes Benz of San Diego recently fired 20 out of the 35 auto technicians.

“I, together with the rest of the associates, want regard and dignity for the do the job we provide for the buyers and the dealership,” claimed IAM Community 1484 Chief Shop Steward Pedro Gomez. “We went out on strike due to unfair labor techniques. This ULP strike is a case of David versus Goliath. Our users stand united and will preserve up the battle as prolonged as it will take to get justice on the position.”

“IAM Local 1484 customers are the real definition of grit and determination,” stated IAM District 190 Location Director Kevin Kucera. “These tough-doing work mechanics are battling not only for our users at this dealership but for auto professionals all over Southern California. IAM District 190 will devote our total sources to make sure they get these unfair labor practices discharged and the users who were being wrongfully terminated get their professions again.”

IAM Community 1484 members and Mercedes Benz of San Diego are scheduled to resume negotiations with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Support (FMCS) on Aug. 4.
